Flu and COVID-19 vaccinations autumn/winter 2023-24

Campaign brief

People over 65, long-stay care home residents, frontline health and social care workers and those more at risk of severe illness are still eligible for COVID-19 and flu vaccinations.

The NHS online booking system, app and 119 phone service have now shut down for COVID vacciantion bookings, but those eligible can still get vaccinated though local NHS vaccination services like pharmacies or walk-in sites. Alternatively, people eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine can call the Gateway Team on 0161 947 0770 or 0800 092 4020 for assistance finding a local walk-in vaccination service.

Pregnant women and school-age children can also get a free flu vaccination on the NHS. The children’s flu vaccine is usually given as a quick and painless spray up the nose.

Flu and COVID-19 can be unpleasant. But for many people, particularly those with certain health conditions, older people and pregnant women, they can be very dangerous and even life-threatening. Catching both viruses over winter increases the risk of serious illness even further.

Vaccines are the best protection against both viruses so please share these posts on your social media as appropriate.
