Every year, people around the country use Dying Matters Awareness Week as a moment to encourage all communities to get talking in whatever way, shape or form works for them. In 2024, Dying Matters Awareness Week takes place from 6th-12th May.
This year’s theme ‘The way we talk about Dying Matters’, focuses on the language that we use, and conversations we have around death and dying – specifically between healthcare professionals and patients, their carers and their families.
In light of Dying Matters Week, NHS Greater Manchester’s Suicide Prevention Programme have worked alongside Projecting Grief to arrange an exhibition exploring the relationship between loss, creativity and healing. The exhibition will take place at the Trafford Centre between 6th-12th May 2024.
From comedy to collaging, Projecting Grief tells the stories of people finding comfort, distraction or hope in a creative pursuit after losing someone they love. The exhibition will display an array of personal stories and two workshops will also be taking place.
In anticipation of the exhibition, Projecting Grief have released a new feature involving three members of the Greater Manchester Sing Their Name Choir. Each shares their story of suicide, loss and how important being a member of the choir is to them.
Pre-booking for the workshops is essential. You can find more information about the workshops below:
