Children's urology

The most common procedures for children are:

  • Hypospadias surgery – hypospadias is a birth defect in which the opening of the urethra is not located at the tip of the penis.
  • Circumcision – the removal of foreskin from the penis.
  • Orchidopexy – an operation to bring an undescended testicle into the scrotum.

Children with more complex Urology problems are treated at Manchester Children’s hospital. This includes things like bladder exstrophy, spina bifida, disorders of sexual differentiation, renal stones, kidney problems and varicoceles.

Several other clinics in Wythenshawe, Macclesfield, Wigan Borough, Bolton, Lancaster, and Stockport treat less complex problems such as undescended testes, tight foreskins, and wetting.

Trafford General Hospital also provides urology specialist nursing investigations.
