“The government has recently announced the abolition of NHS England and that all Integrated Care Boards (ICB) across England, including NHS Greater Manchester must reduce running costs by 50%.We are still awaiting the detail in terms of what this will mean in practice for Greater Manchester colleagues and budgets but what we do know is that we have to deal with this together, as a Greater Manchester family and whole system.
“Our first concern is for our people. We know that this announcement has been a shock amongst our dedicated ICB colleagues who we will work hard to support through this change. Also to our partners and the communities we serve. As always we will stand together as a system to protect the health and wellbeing of our residents and minimise any change that threatens to undermine the care and support our communities rely on.
“Whilst we await more detail, we remain absolutely committed to our purpose of improving the health of people in Greater Manchester and to directly addressing health inequalities in the city region. Our GM Live Well ambitions will continue to come to fruition including the work we do together to ensure everyone can access good healthcare and support in every neighbourhood.
“We’ve seen how powerful we can be in Greater Manchester when we pull together in the same direction. And that is exactly what we’ll continue to do.”
