Falls prevention 2024

Falls prevention 2024

Falls, particularly for older people, can cause injury, pain, loss of confidence, and reduced quality of life. They are also a major reason for hospital admission and can lead to further complications and health problems. However, falls are often preventable and not a normal part of growing older.

Reducing the number of falls is important for maintaining the health, wellbeing and independence of older people.

The messages in this toolkit are aimed at those most likely to experience a fall (individuals aged 70 years and over), as well as their carers and family members who support them.

Target audience: People aged 70 or over. People at risk of falls. People who care for people at risk of falls.

Topics: Falls, prevention, older people, winter

Campaign start date: 8 November 2024
