A health and wellbeing drop-in event is being held in Ashton-in-Makerfield Library, Wigan Road, Ashton-in-Makerfield, WN4 9BH between 2.30pm and 4.30pm. This free event will help those looking to improve their health and wellbeing but are not sure where, or even how, to start.
The health checks on offer will be:
- blood pressure
- cholesterol checks
- height
- weight
The Wigan Be Well team will share advice and tips on managing weight, suitable fitness programmes, stopping smoking and drinking less.
If you’ve had a health screening invitation but haven’t taken up the offer you can also talk to the cancer screening team who will listen to any concerns you may have. Representatives from GP practices will also be there to answer questions about their services.
A short group health walk to Ashton Leisure Centre has been arranged and this will start at 2.30pm at Ashton Library.
Dr Tim Dalton, associate medical director for NHS Greater Manchester (Wigan Borough) said:
“This drop in event is a great opportunity for people in Ashton to have an informal check up on their health. No appointment is required, just go along to Ashton Library between 2.30pm and 4.30pm on Thursday, 29 February.
