Alcohol and drug support

Realising you have a problem with alcohol or drugs is the first big step to getting help.
A good place to start is with your GP practice. Try to be accurate and honest about your drink or drug use and any problems it may be causing you.
Your GP practice may suggest different types of assessment and support options for you, such as from local community alcohol or drug services.
If you have become physically dependent on alcohol or drugs, stopping overnight could be harmful. You should get advice about this and about any medicine you may need to do this safely.
Getting the right support is important to maintaining control in the future.
There are lots of alcohol and drug support services across Greater Manchester that can support you, along with support from your GP practice.
