Carers support

A carer is anyone who spends time looking after or helping a family member, friend or neighbour who, because of their health and care needs, would find it difficult to cope without this help regardless of age or whether they identify as a carer.

One in ten people are known to be carers in Greater Manchester, yet there are many more who are unknown.

Manchester Carers Centre was established in 1997 as an independent voluntary organisation. They deliver a range of FREE, high quality support services for unpaid Carers in the City. These services include, practical help, community drop-ins, respite breaks, social activities, access to grants and training, and a dedicated Young Adult Carers Service for 16-25 year old Carers.

Signpost Stockport for Carers is an independent local charity who have been supporting carers for more than 30 years. If you’re a Stockport carer or caring for somebody living in Stockport, they’re here for you.

A carer is anyone providing help to a friend, neighbour or relative who could not manage without them because of frailty, illness, addiction or disability. Carers often don’t recognise themselves as ‘carers’; they just think of themselves as helping out somebody they care about.

Their aim is to improve the quality of life for carers in Stockport from 6 years old to 96 years old and everyone in-between!

Trafford Carers Centre is an independent registered Charity supporting unpaid carers looking after someone who lives in the Trafford area.

Wigan and Leigh Carers Centre is an is an established, successful and well-respected independent registered charity (1138908) supporting unpaid carers who look after people living in Wigan borough.
