Greater Manchester has been awarded £7million as part of a wider £64 million national WorkWell pilot led by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC).

It aims to support people who face barriers to employment due to health issues or disability, providing tailored assistance to help them remain in work or re-enter the workforce.

It aims to assist up to 8,000 people across Greater Manchester by March 2026.

Why it matters

In Greater Manchester, too many people are unable to work due to poor health. This can have a serious impact on their wellbeing and make it harder for them to return to employment. By addressing these challenges, the WorkWell Programme aims to improve both the health and employment outcomes of local people, helping them to lead fulfilling, productive lives.
