Please could you provide the following information for adults aged 18–65 for each of the last three completed financial years:

1. The number of patients who were ready for discharge but remained in hospital.
2. Where available, how many were waiting for:

• a residential care placement;
• a nursing care placement;
• a specialist or complex-care placement;
• a placement able to meet their assessed needs;
• a Continuing Healthcare assessment or funding decision.

3. Where available, the average and longest length of delay after the patient was considered ready for discharge.
4. Where available, the number of these patients who required specialist support such as tracheostomy care, ventilation, acquired brain injury care, spinal injury care, complex neurological care or 24-hour nursing care.

NHS GM does not hold the specific data requested. Although we do have data that can identify current inpatients and length of stay, the CHC eligibility data is still being developed and has data quality issues which mean it cannot currently be used with confidence. We therefore do not hold the data needed to reliably identify the specific cohort requested.
