I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act (2000) to request information from your organisation about the provision of weight loss services.

1.‎Does the ICB provide tier 3 weight loss services for:

a.adults?

b.children?

 

2.Does the ICB provide tier 4 weight loss services for:

a. adults?

b. children?

 

3. What is the local adult population eligible for tier 3 / 4 weight loss services? (E.g. Estimated number of adults with BMI of 35 kg/m2 or more plus 1 or more comorbidities, or with a BMI of 40 kg/m2 or more with or without comorbidities)

 

4. What is the local child population eligible for tier 3 / 4 weight loss services? (E.g. Estimated number of children with BMI of 35 kg/m2 or more plus 1 or more comorbidities, or with a BMI of 40 kg/m2 or more with or without comorbidities)

 

5. How many adults did you / do you plan to provide tier 3 / 4 weight loss services to in the financial year:

1.a. NHS Greater Manchester ICB (hereafter referred to as NHS GM) commissions Tier 3 services. Responsibility for commissioning Tier 3 services is within each of the 10 Localities. There is currently no provision in Wigan, Manchester and Bolton and further work is ongoing.

1.b. NHS GM does not commission tier 3 weight loss services for children across Greater Manchester

 

2.a. Tier 4 services are commissioned pan-GM and are delivered by the Northern Care Alliance.

2.b. The specialist weight management services for children and young people is provided through Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

 

3. Adults with BMI >= 40kg/m2 (including those from a BAME group with BMI >= 37.5kg/m2) or BMI >= 35 kg/m2 (including those from a BAME group with BMI >= 32.5kg/m2) with a co-morbidity = 228,501

Please note that these numbers exclude any patients who have enacted a GDPR objection, Type 1 or National data opt out. These numbers also exclude 2 practices in Greater Manchester who have opted out of data sharing for secondary uses.

 

4. Children with BMI >= 40kg/m2 (including those from a BAME group with BMI >= 37.5kg/m2) or BMI >= 35 kg/m2 (including those from a BAME group with BMI >= 32.5kg/m2) with a co-morbidity = 14,024

Please note that these numbers exclude any patients who have enacted a GDPR objection, Type 1 or National data opt out. These numbers also exclude 2 practices in Greater Manchester who have opted out of data sharing for secondary uses.
