FOI 2025/1221

Reference FOI 2025/1221
Description Independent Providers for Dissociative Disorders
Date Requested 08/05/2025
Date Replied 02/06/2025
Category Mental Health

I am writing to request the following information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

  1. In the past five years (or for as many years as records are available post CCG merger) how many requests have been received by your ICB/CCG to fund assessment and/or treatment for dissociation or dissociative disorders with independent (non-NHS, or NHS affiliated) providers, including but not limited to:
    • The Centre for Dissociative Studies (CDS)
    • The Pottergate Centre for Dissociation and Trauma
    • The Complex Trauma and Dissociation Clinic (CTAD)
  2. Of these requests, how many were approved for funding?
  3. What is the typical cost to the ICB/CCG of:
    • An initial assessment at each of these providers;
    • A course of treatment (e.g. per session, per year, or any other available metric)
  4. Does your ICB/CCG have a formal care pathway or policy for the assessment and/or treatment of dissociative disorders in your locality?
  5. Are there any planned changes to the commissioning or provision of services for people with dissociative disorders (e.g. new services, contract reviews, funding changes)?

If the data is held in a format more easily provided by provider, year, or other grouping, I am happy to receive it in that form. If part of this request would exceed the cost/time limits, I would be grateful for advice on how it might be refined.

Questions 1-3. NHS Greater Manchester (NHS GM) does not hold the information requested.

NHS operational planning and commissioning directions limit what specific conditions information is collected/recorded, in terms of specific commissioned services availability, access and waiting times, etc.

Assessment and/or treatment for dissociation or dissociative disorders with independent (non-NHS, or NHS affiliated) providers is NOT information that is collected/recorded – and as such, is not available. This is in contrast for example to access to Talking Therapies for common mental health difficulties, eating disorders and early intervention in psychosis services.

  1. At this stage NHS GM does not have a formal care pathway or policy for the assessment and/or treatment of dissociative disorders.
  2. Currently NHS GM does not have any planned changes to the commissioning or provision of services for people with dissociative disorders (e.g. new services, contract reviews, funding changes).
