I would like to obtain the most recent guidelines relating to the prescribing of infant formula for Cow’s Milk Protein Allergy (CMPA) within GREATER MANCHESTER ICS.

Specifically, I am seeking:

• Clinical criteria for prescribing specialist formula (e.g. extensively hydrolysed or amino acid-based)
• Any local pathways or protocols for diagnosis and management of CMPA

NHS Greater Manchester (NHS GM) does not currently have pathways, guidelines nor protocols in place, for prescribing specialist formula milks, or diagnosis of CMPA.

As you have requested the must recent guidance; the Greater Manchester Medicines Management Group (GMMMG) Prescribing infant formula for cow’s milk protein allergy in primary care, (Version 3, 2020) has been provided. However, please note that this document was withdrawn pending review. NHS GM does not currently have a timescale for the review to take place.
