Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I am requesting the following information regarding your organisation’s digital maturity.
1. Shared Care Record: For your main Shared Care Record (or equivalent electronic shared patient record), please state which of the following partners currently contribute data to it (not just view it):

2. Artificial Intelligence (AI): Do you have a formal, board-approved governance framework for using Artificial Intelligence (AI)? If yes, please list any AI applications currently in operational use.
3. Patient-Facing Digital Services: Through your main patient-facing app or portal, which of the following functions are available? (Please answer Yes/No for each):
a. Booking/managing appointments
b. Ordering repeat prescriptions

Yes, NHS Greater Manchester has a board-approved governance framework for the use of Artificial Intelligence. This framework is documented across several areas.
NHS GM RPA and AI Policy
• Defines roles and responsibilities for Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) and GP Practices.
• Requires all AI/RPA implementations to begin with a defined use case and undergo risk assessment.
• Aligns with NHS Digital standards (DCB0129, DCB0160) and GDPR2.
Terms of Reference for the AI Oversight Group
• Establishes the AI Oversight & Governance Group as the advisory and risk assessment body.
• Provides a gateway for AI proposals and categorizes them by risk level (low, medium, high).
• Final approval for high-risk tools may be escalated to the Primary Care Digital Board3.

NHS Greater Manchester do have a digital strategy which was published in October 2023 covering the period from 2023 to 2027 and is available on our website. This does not cover upcoming structural changes, but an update is planned for 2025.
