On 25th May 2023 an event took place inviting d/Deaf people to the Elmbank Centre Eccles. Salford CCG engagement Colleagues convened an event along with support from the Northern Care Alliance Representatives for Social Work, Patient Experience and Interpreting Services and Healthwatch Salford. Result CIC were engaged to facilitate this session.

4. Immediately following this event Salford Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) became part of NHS Greater Manchester (NHS GM). The team took forward the recommendations to improve communication and continued to work with the Deaf community in Salford to create a toolkit to support improved communication and engagement.
After the event, as per recommendation we continued to work with Silent Voices and the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA) to help improve access for Deaf people to NCA services. The NCA work is ongoing, and they will be able to provide further details.
The work was shared with the commissioners of the Interpretation and translation contracts, and they used it to support creating the specification for new contracts.
5. The toolkit was produced in the last few months and is currently being implemented. We are working with the Deaf community to evaluate the toolkit. The I&T contracts are currently being reviewed. Any new contracts will be evaluated in line with the specifications.
