I am writing under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information held by NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care Board:

I would like to request any policies and/or guidelines used in your the healthcare of infants who are intersex/have a difference or disorder of sexual development, or have ambiguous genitalia at birth (such as clitoromegaly, microphallus or other atypicality). If NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care Board does not have guidelines or policies relating to the above, please let me know.

Please provide this information by email to this address in PDF format. If this is not possible, another electronic format will suffice.

NHS GM does not hold any local guidance / policy for this pathway / procedure, supporting the treatment of infants who are intersex/have a difference or disorder of sexual development or have ambiguous genitalia at birth (such as clitoromegaly, microphallus or other atypicality).

NHS Greater Manchester Commissions urology surgery for disorders of sexual differentiation in line with national specialised paediatric surgery specification standards from Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.  Here is a link to the national service specification  https://www.england.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/e02-paed-surg-surgi-path-anaes.pdf.   It applies to all children over 44 weeks conceptual age, (or over 60 weeks conceptual age, if born prematurely) up to the age of 18 years.
