I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information from Greater Manchester ICB on behalf of Allergy UK.
Please can you provide me with the following information:
Question 1: How many patients with a coded diagnosis of allergic condition are being treated at primary care level from Greater Manchester ICB, data capture 1st July 2024 to 1st July 2025?
NB: Allergic conditions include:
a. Food allergy (including Cow’s Milk, Egg, Wheat, Peanut, Tree nuts, Fish, Shellfish, Soya, Sesame)
b. Drug allergy
c. Insect venom allergy
d. Latex allergy
e. Anaphylaxis
f. Allergic / atopic eczema
g. Allergic / atopic asthma
h. Allergic rhinitis / hay fever
I. Allergic eye disease / Allergic rhino conjunctivitis
Question 2: Of the patients coded above, how many patients have been referred to secondary care between 1st July 2024 to 1st July 2025?
Question 3: Do you have access to a local dedicated allergy clinic that provides a comprehensive service for people suffering from allergic disease to go to when referred? (Yes or No answer)
Question 4: How many specialists do you have supporting patients receiving care for allergies in Greater Manchester ICB?
a) specialist nurses trained in allergy (Answer 0, 1-3, 4-6, 7-10, 10+)
b) specialist dieticians trained in allergy (Answer 0, 1-3, 4-6, 7-10, 10+)
c) GPs with a special interest in allergy (coded GPwsi or GPwer) (Answer 0, 1-3, 4-6, 7-10, 10+)
Question 5: How many patients have been prescribed an adrenaline autoinjector within your ICB?
Question 6: How many patients have been prescribed extensively hydrolysed formula (EHF) (number) or amino acid formula AAF) (number) within your ICB?

  1. Yes. Each of the NHS Acute Hospitals has an allergy clinic delivering adult and / or paediatric allergy services.

  1. Within NHS GM the number of patients that have been prescribed and received extensively hydrolysed formula (EHF) or amino acid formula AAF) within Greater Manchester over the twelve-month period of July 2024 to June 2025, is 5,472.
