I’m a researcher at the University of Manchester.
I’m wondering if you had any information of how many general practices in GM are in areas of deprivation (IMD decile 1). Particularly useful would be an excel file listing all the General Practices in Greater Manchester attached to their corresponding IMD decide.
I might expand that request to provide national data then please, rather than just Greater Manchester. Something like this table below? The last two columns on rural/urban, and ethnic diversity would be nice to have but not needed if it is too much hassle/would result in a charge.
| Region | ICB | GP code | Practice list size | Practice name | Practice address | IMD decile | Rural/Urban classification | Ethnic diversity | |
| North West | NHS Greater Manchester | P88024 | 10189 | GATLEY MEDICAL CENTRE | Old Hall Rd, Gatley, Cheadle SK8 4DG | 3 | |||
Every quarter NHS England publish, as part of the national Patient registered at a GP practice publication, by practice the number of patients who live in each lower super output area (LSOA) based on either 2011 or 2021 definitions every quarter.
This published data would allow you to undertake the national comparison you require.
The latest data is available from the link below; https://digital.nhs.uk/data-and-information/publications/statistical/patients-registered-at-a-gp-practice/october-2025
**A screenshot image from the website above was sent to the requester with this response. If you require a copy of the full response, together with the document, please contact NHS GM’s FOI team – nhsgm.foi@nhs.net**
There are then national tools available which map from LSOA to IMD decile, such as this tool: https://imd-by-postcode.opendatacommunities.org/imd/2019
