I am researching the propensity for NHS to outsource radiology reporting. Please provide, under the Freedom of Information act, the following information in relation to radiology reporting services commissioned across your ICB:

1. The list the outsourced teleradiology providers commissioned across your ICB area

2. Please provide the volume of radiology reporting OUTSOURCED to teleradiology providers and other providers annually from 2023-2025. The data should be broken down by provider the following categories:

a) Overnight emergency

b) Routine elective reporting (MRI, CT)

c) Plain film reporting

d) Day time emergency reporting

e) Broken down by provider organisation (e.g. by NHS Trust within your ICB footprint)

 

3. Please provide TOTAL volume of scans reported (inhouse and outsourced) annually from 2023-2025, broken into the following:

a) Overnight emergency

b) Routine elective reporting (MRI, CT)

c) Plain film reporting

d) Day time emergency reporting

e) Broken down by provider organisation (e.g. by NHS Trust within your ICB footprint)

 

4. Start date, duration, and end date of any contracts commissioned or overseen by the ICB for outsourced teleradiology services

5. Who in the ICB is responsible for the oversight and management of the contract?

6. What was the total annual spend on outsourced teleradiology (if relevant split by emergency and elective) from 2020-2025?

If possible please provide this information in Excel format.

 

  1. NHS GM interprets teleradiology services to be specifically about the separation of the review of radiology scan from the performance of it. NHS GM is a commission of radiology services, details of which are included within the Contracting register at nhsgm-conreg-feb-25-final.pdf. NHS GM does not directly commission teleradiology services. NHS GM does not hold the information that would enable us to identify whether scans are interpreted ‘inhouse’ or sent by providers to secondary locations for interpretation, and the requestor may be able to contact the providers directly to determine this.
