I am writing on behalf of Nova Healthcare Solutions Ltd to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Nova Healthcare Solutions Ltd is a healthcare technology provider currently working in partnership with multiple NHS GP practices. We are exploring the potential to integrate local formulary and medicines optimisation information into clinical systems used by healthcare professionals to support access to accurate and up-to-date prescribing guidance.

Please could you provide the following information in relation to your Integrated Care Board:

  1. Whether the ICB’s formulary content is available in a structured digital format suitable for system integration, for example via an API, data feed or export.
  2. Whether any available formulary dataset includes formulary status or restriction information, for example:
    • approved
    • restricted
    • not recommended
    • traffic light or RAG classifications
    • indication-level rules or prescribing criteria
  3. Whether there is any technical documentation available relating to access or integration and if so the process for obtaining developer or technical access.
  4. Details of any licensing terms, data sharing agreements or other conditions that would apply to the use of this information within NHS-affiliated clinical systems.
  5. Whether there are any restrictions relating to third-party suppliers working in collaboration with NHS GP practices within your ICB area.
  6. Whether the formulary is hosted and managed directly by the ICB or provided via a third-party platform supplier. If a third-party provider is used please provide the name of the supplier where possible.
  7. If programmatic or structured access is not currently available whether this is being considered as part of any future digital development plans or roadmap.

  1. Yes, the Greater Manchester (GM) formulary is available in a suitable format for system integration by a third party.
  2. Yes, the GM formulary has RAG classification (Welcome to GMMMG – GMMMG).
  3. Yes, NHS GM has the technical documentation for system integration, but because of the confidentiality agreement, we are unable to disclose the process.
  4. Licensing terms and data sharing agreements are in place, but because of a confidentiality agreement, we are unable to share any further details.
  5. No restrictions.
  6. The GMMMG formulary is managed by the Regional Drug and Therapeutic Centre (RDTC) team (Contact – GMMMG)
  7. Not Applicable.
