FOI 2026/1670

Reference FOI 2026/1670
Description Primary Care Commissioning of Inclisiran (Leqvio)
Date Requested 30/03/2026
Date Replied 07/04/2026
Category Medicines Optimisation

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, please provide the following recorded information regarding the commissioning and funding of Inclisiran (Leqvio) within primary care across your Integrated Care Board (ICB).

Given the ongoing national discussions and Local Medical Committee (LMC) guidance regarding the workload and funding of this drug, please provide:

  1. Current Status: Does the ICB currently have an active Locally Commissioned Service (LCS), Locally Enhanced Service (LES), or any specific local funding pathway in place to remunerate general practices for the administration of Inclisiran outside the core GMS/PMS contract?
  2. Financials: If a local funding pathway is active, what is the exact financial remuneration paid to the practice per patient or per administration?
  3. Future Planning (2026): If no local funding is currently active, are there any formal plans, working groups, or committee discussions scheduled for 2026 to evaluate or introduce a local funding mechanism for Inclisiran?
  4. Internal Minutes: Please provide copies of any Primary Care Commissioning Committee minutes, or formal correspondence with the local LMC, from the last 12 months that mention the local funding, workload, or commissioning of Inclisiran.

Please note: I require the live, current status of local commissioning as of today’s date. If you intend to apply a Section 21 exemption (Information accessible to applicant by other means) by directing me to a public document or website, you must explicitly confirm that the linked information accurately reflects the ICB’s current policy and financial remuneration figures as of March 2026. If the public document is outdated or under review, the Section 21 exemption is legally invalid, and I require the current internal recorded data.

If this request is too wide or unclear, I would be grateful if you could contact me to provide advice and assistance under your Section 16 duty so that I may refine my request.

  1. As outlined in the GM commissioning statement (see link below), NHS GM ICB does not have any local funding arrangements for inclisiran. NHS GM now regards inclisiran as a routine treatment for the treatment of primary hypercholesterolaemia or mixed dyslipidaemia in line with NICE guidance alongside statins and ezetimibe. There are no special commissioning arrangements. GM-Inclisiran-commissioning-statement_FINAL-for-GMMMG.pdf
