FOI 2026/1769

Reference FOI 2026/1769
Description Patient Safety Training and Budget
Date Requested 18/05/2026
Date Replied 15/06/2026
Category Workforce Planning, Intelligence & Education

Under the Freedom of Information Act, I would like to request:

1) What you have spent on patient safety or human factors training and education for staff members, excluding Levels 1,2,3, and 4, provided through eLFH and Loughborough University during 2025/26 financial year

2) I would like to know what budget you have allocated for these sessions in 2026/27 financial year

3) which role is the budget holder

1) Patient safety training is classed as mandatory role specific, which is provided by e-learning for health, free of charge, therefore for 2025/2026 there is a nil response in terms of spend on this training. A budget is available in the event that an individual or team requires specific patient safety training which is yet to be defined by a skills gap analysis later this year.

2) Whilst no specific budget has been allocated to patient safety or human factors training in 26/27, budgets exist for specific training for individual staff in line with their personal development plans. Should a need for patient safety training be identified, colleagues are able to apply for this to be funded. A skills gap analysis is due to be conducted and if patient safety training is a requirement this will be funded through the training budget.

3) Chief Strategy, People and Partnerships Officer.
