Description Current and future spend on patient experience

I would like to request the following information from the ICB under the Freedom of Information Act. 

I am interested in the numbers of staff and resource being put into gathering and analysing patient experience through the following sorts of exercises:

  • Any surveys the ICB runs with patients or the wider community 
  • Any work done looking at feedback gathered about relevant providers through the Friends and Family Test 
  • Any qualitative engagement done to understand local patient experience. This could be conducted by teams within the ICB or be commissioned via an external contractor. 
  • Any co-production exercises conducted with the local community to design future services. 

Please can you tell me: 

  1. How many staff were/are/will be employed by the ICB in roles relating to the gathering/analysing/reporting of patient experience for each of the following financial years:
    • 2023/24
    • 2024/25
    • 2025/26
    • 2026/27 
    • 2027/28
  1. What was/is/will be the total budget spend/allocation for the ICB’s activities engaging with patients and communities to gather experiences and get their input on the development of services for each of the following financial years: 
    • 2023/24
    • 2024/25
    • 2025/26
    • 2026/27 
    • 2027/28

 

  1. What was the volume of patient experience data (in terms of numbers of people having shared insights with the ICB) for each of the following years: 
    • 2023/24
    • 2024/25
    • 2025/26

 

For each of the 3 questions above, where ICBs have been merged please provide a breakdown for each individual ICB for each year prior to the merger.

The information provided in this document relates only to engagement and activity carried out by this team, including consultation, involvement and community engagement work. It does not represent wider patient experience data or feedback collected through NHS services, providers, PALS or complaints processes.

  • How many staff were/are/will be employed by the ICB in roles relating to the gathering/analysing/reporting of patient experience for each of the following financial years:
    • 2023/24 – 12.5 full time equivalents
    • 2024/25 – 12.5 full time equivalents
    • 2025/26 – 12.5 full time equivalents
    • 2026/27 – 6 full time equivalents
    • 2027/28 – -predicted to be 6 full time equivalents
  • What was/is/will be the total budget spend/allocation for the ICB’s activities engaging with patients and communities to gather experiences and get their input on the development of services for each of the following financial years: 
    • 2023/24 – we don’t have the data to support this. We were in a period of transition when 10 CCGs and Greater Manchester Health and Care Partnerships came together to form the ICB.
    • 2024/25 – £147,808.43 (engagement only)
    • 2025/26 – £80,536.89 (engagement only)
    • 2026/27 – £25,000 (across communications and engagement)
    • 2027/28 -tbc
  • What was the volume of patient experience data (in terms of numbers of people having shared insights with the ICB) for each of the following years: 
    • 2023/24 – 2,775 people across a range of projects including NHS 75, screening and vaccinations and national fitness day.
    • 2024/25– 4,962 people across a range of projects including Fit for the Future, Adult and Children’s and Young People ADHD and Diabetes
    • 2025/26- 6083 people across a range of projects including IVF, Adult ADHD, Fit for Winter and Ophthalmology
