People across Greater Manchester can access trusted, easy-to-understand information and advice about pregnancy, birth and early parenthood, thanks to the pregnancy and maternity information hub on our website.
The hub brings together everything people might need during pregnancy and beyond – from finding out you’re pregnant, to making choices about your care, preparing for labour and birth, and adjusting to life at home with a new baby.
Supporting people with trusted information
When you’re expecting or welcoming a baby, the information you access matters. The new hub has been developed to make sure that everyone in Greater Manchester can find trusted, consistent and up-to-date information all in one place.
It includes guidance on:
- What to do if you think you might be pregnant
- Choosing your maternity provider or birth setting
- What to expect throughout your pregnancy
- Labour, birth and postnatal care
- Advice and support for partners, families and carers
- Where to get help if you have any concerns
The hub also links to reliable local and national services, including NHS 111, maternity safety advice, and mental health support for new and expecting parents.
Developed together with local voices
The hub was created in close partnership with local Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnerships (MNVPs) across Greater Manchester.
MNVPs are independent, parent-led groups that bring together women, birthing people, their families and maternity staff to shape and improve local maternity and neonatal care.
By working with MNVP representatives and local families, we have ensured the content is relevant, inclusive and reflects the lived experiences of the people who use these services.
Part of wider work to improve maternity and neonatal care
The launch of the information hub supports wider efforts to improve maternity and neonatal services across Greater Manchester.
Since 2024, NHS Greater Manchester has strengthened maternity safety and oversight through the creation of a dedicated Maternity and Neonatal Oversight Group, which brings together NHS leaders, maternity experts and MNVP representatives to drive improvement. You can read our last position statement here.
A resource for everyone
The new hub is designed for anyone who is pregnant, planning a pregnancy, has recently given birth, or is supporting someone who has. Our Recite Me toolbar can be used to translate the information in to over 100 community languages too.
The hub will continue to evolve over time, with updates and new resources added as services and support across Greater Manchester develop further.
