In Greater Manchester, more than 6,379 people are thought to be living with HIV, with an estimated 5% unaware of their status.  National HIV Testing Week promotes regular testing among the most affected population groups – helping to reduce the number of people living with undiagnosed HIV and those diagnosed late.

This year, the campaign returns with a new strapline, ‘I Test.’ across all National HIV Testing Week materials, replacing ‘Give HIV The Finger’, which has been in place for the previous five years.

There are many ways you can get involved and support National HIV Testing Week across Greater Manchester including sharing campaign assets and showing our support for local activation partners, The PaSH Partnership, a collaboration between BHA for Equality, George House Trust, and LGBT Foundation.

The PaSH Partnership delivers a comprehensive programme of interventions to meet the changing needs of people newly diagnosed with HIV, living longer term with HIV, or at greatest risk of acquiring HIV.  PaSH will be increasing HIV testing opportunities by offering Rapid HIV Testing across the region in different community venues across Greater Manchester.

In addition, routine HIV testing continues across Emergency Departments in Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI), Wythenshawe Hospital and North Manchester General Hospital.  To date, almost 64,000 tests have been taken with 19 new diagnoses of HIV confirmed.
