Catch up on missed school vaccines
Parents and carers are being encouraged to ensure their children are fully protected against serious illnesses, as Easter catch-up vaccination clinics are now available across Greater Manchester.
IntraHealth is offering community clinic appointments throughout the Easter holidays for children who missed their routine school vaccinations, including the MenACWY (meningitis) vaccine and the Td/IPV (teenage booster).
Why vaccinations matter
While a child’s immune system can fight common illnesses like coughs, colds, and sore throats, it needs extra support to defend against more serious infections. Vaccination provides that protection, helping prevent complications such as paralysis, breathing difficulties, and in some cases, death. All NHS vaccinations are safe, effective, and free.
Protecting your child and community
Ensuring your child is up to date with vaccinations not only protects them but also helps safeguard the wider community.
Which vaccines are offered at school?
- HPV vaccine (Year 8, ages 12–13): Protects against human papillomavirus (HPV), which can cause several types of cancer later in life.
- Td/IPV booster (Year 9): Strengthens protection against tetanus, diphtheria, and polio, conditions that can cause heart failure, paralysis and breathing difficulties.
- MenACWY (Year 9): Protects against meningitis and sepsis, conditions which can cause permanent disability or even kill.
- Flu vaccine (up to Year 11): Helps prevent flu and complications such as pneumonia and bronchitis.

Children usually receive these vaccinations at school, but for those who missed their appointment, Easter clinics provide a convenient opportunity to catch up.
