What is mental health?

Mental health is something we all have- just like physical health – and it needs looking after.

When your mental health is good, you’re generally able to think, feel and respond in ways that help you live your life. When it’s not, those thoughts and feelings can become overwhelming or hard to manage. At times, this can feel as serious as a physical illness, or even more difficult.

Whether you’re a child or young person and struggling with how you’re feeling or you’re a parent or carer worried about a child, you’re not alone and there is support available.
