Most 11-year-olds have a mobile phone, but do they know how to protect themselves from cyberbullying?

Kooth is inviting parents and carers to join them for a free 45-minute webinar at 6pm on Wednesday November 12 or Thursday November 20.

It will share practical tips on how to help children deal with potential problems, how to spot signs of cyberbullying and what action to take.

Included will be information on:

  • How their phone grabs and holds young people’s attention
  • The pressure they may feel to be online
  • What cyberbullying might look like
  • The impacts of social media and bullying
  • How you can help young people stay safe
  • How they can build a positive online space

Kooth and The Diana Award: tackling bullying together

Kooth, which provides free emotional and well-being support for young people in Greater Manchester, has partnered with the leading youth charity, The Diana Award.

They are raising awareness of bullying and encouraging young people who are being bullied to tell a trusted adult and reach out for support.

They’ve produced three films: two feature the stories and voices of young people and one features a consultant psychologist talking about the serious impacts bullying can have on the mental health of young people.

Parents and carers are also urged to make conversations about young people’s lives online part of their everyday lives.

Bullying among young people remains a huge issue, which can lead to self-harm, anxiety, depression, difficulties at school and can negatively impact relationships.

Kooth’s independent research shows, parents and carers don’t always know bullying is happening, with one in three young people suffering in silence.
