This year the NHS are making it even easier for busy families to make sure their little ones are protected against the dangers of the flu by offering vaccination appointments at local pharmacies across Greater Manchester.
Flu can be very unpleasant for children and can sometimes cause serious problems, such as pneumonia.
Each winter in the UK, thousands of children who do not have a health condition need hospital care because of flu.
Children can catch and spread flu easily. Vaccinating them also helps protect others who are at higher risk of getting seriously ill from flu, such as babies, anyone who’s pregnant and older people.
Where can my child have their flu vaccination?
As well as at their GP practice, children aged 2-3 can now be vaccinated at one of several local pharmacies across Greater Manchester.
Please get in contact with the pharmacy directly to make an appointment for your child. Walk ins are not currently available for children aged 2-3.
The list of all participating pharmacies is available on our winter vaccination pages.
What vaccination will my child have?
Pharmacists will give the flu vaccination as a quick and painless spray in each nostril. The nasal flu spray contains a small amount of gelatine from pigs (porcine gelatine.) If you would prefer your child to have a vaccination which does not contain gelatine, an injection is available. You can ask for the injection at your GP practice.
