We've teamed up with young people to create a guide about the care and support they should expect when using health services

As a young person, it can sometimes feel daunting if you need to visit a health service such as a GP appointment or dental check-up.Greater Manchester Youth Health Agreement

That’s why we’ve worked with members of Bee Heard to create the Greater Manchester (GM) Youth Health Agreement.

The agreement is for young people aged 11–19. It sets out what they can expect when using a health service in Greater Manchester.

It includes 14 health agreements such as:

  • I know what is happening with my care and who is involved
  • My views are respected and valued
  • I am not treated unfairly because of my physical or mental illness
  • I make decisions about my own treatment

We want to make sure young people feel confident and in control of their own health.

Members of Bee Heard said:

“The GM Youth Agreement is super important. It helps young people know what kind of care they should get when they use local health services, such as going to the doctor or dentist.

“Everyone should be able to get healthcare easily — not just some people. This agreement helps get rid of the things that make it hard for some young people to get help.

“A lot of the time, when things are made for young people, it’s obvious they didn’t actually ask young people what they think. We’re happy that didn’t happen here! We worked closely with NHS Greater Manchester to make sure young people know what support is out there and how to get the best care when they need it.”
