Philippa Johnson is returning to her North West roots and will be taking the helm at NHS Greater Manchester Stockport Locality as its new Deputy Place Lead.

She has more than 25 years’ experience in the NHS where she started her career as a pharmacist, before moving into projects and general management positions.

During her career, she has also worked in the voluntary sector working as Deputy Director for Macmillan Cancer Support and as the Director of Clinical Operations for a specialist Neuro-disability Hospital.

Prior to joining Stockport on Monday, 6 March, Philippa worked for the Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust as Director of Operations, covering three boroughs across London and more than 1,200 staff. She also brings a wealth of experience in improving health and care from her role as the Co-Chair of the Hammersmith & Fulham Health and Care Partnership.

She relocated with her husband and teenage sons to the North West to be nearer family and friends in 2020 and is now looking forward to working locally.

In her new role, Philippa will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of local health and care services and will be a member of the One Stockport Health and Care Board.

Philippa said: “I am delighted to be appointed to the role of Deputy Place Lead for NHS Greater Manchester Stockport Locality. I am passionate about system working and working collaboratively locally to make the best use of our resources to meet the needs of residents.

“Tackling inequalities is an area I am committed to improving and I aim to bring a fresh perspective to Stockport.

“I am looking forward to working in Stockport with colleagues and partners as well as engaging with the local communities to help make a difference and build on the fantastic progress made to date.”
