Former Bolton health boss Dr Wirin Bhatiani has been recognised in the New Year Honours list.

The Targeted Lung Health Check campaign run by NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care (Tameside), Tameside Council and Manchester Foundation Trust (MFT) was praised as ‘highly commended’ in the shortlist for the Outstanding Care Award, in the first ever Greater Manchester (GM) Cancer Awards organised by Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance on 18 October.

The winners of this year’s celebrating remarkable and inspirational stars, teams and leaders (CRISTAL) Care Awards were announced at ceremony held at Dukinfield Town Hall on Friday 14 October.

A Salford programme has been recognised for its outstanding contribution to healthcare.

Dr Helen Wall, who leads the Covid-19 vaccination programme in Bolton, has received an honorary doctorate.
