Greater Manchester has been testing how nature-based activities can support communities facing the biggest health inequalities as one of seven national green social prescribing areas.

This Social Prescribing Day, 9 March 2023, we are celebrating the individuals and organisations helping people live well in communities across the region.

The Diabetes Social Prescribing Link Worker, or Network Social Prescriber as the role is known at Gorton & Levenshulme PCN, supports people with pre-diabetes, type 2 diabetes and high BMI through working with people to find out what matters to them and what they want to achieve. 

More people are feeling the benefit of nature-based activities in Greater Manchester, thanks to national funding to develop green social prescribing across the region.
