It takes place from 1pm–3.30pm on Wednesday 7 May at The Bridge Church, Bradford Street, Bolton, BL2 1JX.
There will be stalls and talks so you can find out about the services and support to help you adjust to life with and beyond cancer.
The event is organised by Bolton Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service and supported by cancer nurse specialists from Royal Bolton Hospital. Other organisations and services taking part include Bolton Carers, Healthwatch and the Adult Nutrition and Dietetics Service.
Sue has attended previous Macmillan health and wellbeing events as both a cancer patient and a volunteer. She said:
“As an event delegate and also as a volunteer, I have seen the value and the positive difference this event makes for people.
“It is unique and showcases the huge range of support. There are presentations and opportunities to chat to people who have been through similar health experiences.
“Please come along if you are able to with friends or family. Everyone is welcoming and supportive and you can have a tea or coffee and a chat. It will be an afternoon well spent!”
The event will include short talks about the service offered by B
olton Macmillan Cancer Information and Support. You can also find out more about healthy eating and cancer and try seated yoga.
Free refreshments will be available.
Kelly Gordon, Macmillan Cancer Information & Support Service manager, added:
“Come along to our first health & wellbeing event of the year and speak to cancer specialist nurses, local organisations and Bolton Macmillan Centre staff to find out what support is available for you and your family.
“Finishing cancer treatment can be a particularly difficult time for many patients and bring mixed emotions. Patients often feel positive that have completed treatment, but they lose the safety net of support they received when they were attending the hospital regularly.
“We would encourage you to bring a friend or family member with you, as much of the information may be of interest to them too.
