AAA check. Abdominal aortic aneurysms. If you're a man aged 65+ don't ignore your invite for your free 10 minute AAA check.

Men aged 65 and over are urged to have their free abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) screening.

Most abdominal aortic aneurysms do not have any symptoms, so screening is the best way to find one.

Sadly, 82% of people with an untreated abdominal aortic aneurysm die from it, but any swelling can be treated if detected early.

All men are invited by the NHS for AAA screening in their 65th year. You’ll only have the AAA screening test once, unless an aneurysm is found.

The scan is painless, and can detect any swelling in your aorta, which is the main blood vessel that carries blood from the heart to the abdomen.

Have you missed your screening invitation?

If you’re a man, aged 65 or older, and haven’t yet been for your free, 10-minute abdominal aortic aneurysm screening, don’t delay.

If the NHS has invited you for your screening, but missed your appointment, you can contact your GP practice to arrange one.
