NHS Greater Manchester is urging residents to get their free spring COVID-19 booster before the programme ends on 30 June, with only 4 in 10 eligible people vaccinated so far

The Spring COVID-19 vaccination programme closes at the end of June, that’s why NHS Greater Manchester is urging those at highest risk of getting seriously unwell to come forward for their free spring booster if they haven’t already, to top up their protection this spring.

Out of 321,507 residents in Greater Manchester eligible for the spring booster, only 124,352 have had it so far – that’s 4 out of 10 eligible people. Which is why NHS Greater Manchester is asking anyone who hasn’t already taken up the offer of the free vaccine, to make sure they do before the closing date.

Eligible people have until Tuesday 30th June to book and attend their COVID-19 spring booster vaccination appointment.

Those eligible, include:

  • residents in a care home for older adults
  • those aged 75 years and over
  • persons aged 6 months to 74 years and have a weakened immune system because of a health condition or treatment

Dr Manisha Kumar, Chief Clinical Officer for NHS Greater Manchester said: “I would urge everyone who is eligible to get their COVID-19 spring booster vaccine.

COVID-19 is still around and can be life-threatening for the most vulnerable people, which is why it’s so important that everyone who can gets vaccinated.

The vaccine continues to provide the best protection against complications and being admitted to hospital from COVID-19, so please make sure you get vaccinated when offered and encourage loved ones who are eligible to do the same. It will not only keep you safe, but the people around you.

So make sure you book and attend your appointment before the 30th June, either via your GP or at one of the walk-in COVID-19 vaccination clinics.”

If you are eligible for the free COVID-19 spring booster, you can book a vaccination appointment via your GP.

As well as booked appointments, there are still walk-in appointments available everyday across Greater Manchester. For more information visit: Find a walk-in COVID-19 vaccination site – NHS
