Places for remembrance and reflection

The city’s permanent Glade of Light Memorial, near Manchester Cathedral, will once again provide a place for remembrance and reflection throughout the day. On the morning of 22 May, the new Lord Mayor of Manchester, Cllr Shaukat Ali, Council Leader Cllr Bev Craig OBE and Council Chief Executive Tom Stannard will lay floral tributes on behalf of the city.

The names of those who died will also be read during services at Manchester Cathedral at 9.30am (Morning Prayer), 1.10pm (Holy Communion) and 4.30pm (Choral Evensong). The cathedral will remain open all day for anyone wishing to light a candle or spend time in prayer and reflection.

Moments of silence at Victoria Station

Two one-minute silences will be observed at Manchester Victoria Station at 12 noon and 10.31pm, marking the exact time of the attack. Following the midday silence, the Railway Chaplain will offer prayers at the station memorial.
