Nicola Stafford is an Advanced Clinical Practitioner at Castleton Health Centre in the town. She began her nursing career working in Accident and Emergency, before moving into general practice.
The Queen’s nurse award acknowledges the hard work and dedication that Nicola has put into the community throughout her 25 year career.
Nicola, who lives in Littleborough with her husband and two children, said:
“I decided to apply for the Queen’s Nurse Award as I wanted to make a difference in the community. I’ve just started a project with the youth workers at Rochdale Council, we’re going to focus on mental health and well-being through sports facilities. I’m going to focus on mental health and well-being through sports facilities.
“I really enjoy my job, it’s a privileged role being a nurse in the community, being part of people’s lives and making a difference. I think it’s an honour to be part of that.”

Queen’s Nurses serve as leaders and role models in community nursing, delivering high quality health care across the country. The application and assessment process to become a Queen’s Nurse is rigorous. It requires clear commitment to improving care for patients, their families and carers.
Nicola will be presented with her award on Friday, 29th November and she’ll be wearing it on her unform with pride.
